Highway access → arrival
Arrival: North Rellim Ridge trail gate, 0.2 mile beyond the western end of pavement.
Approach: From US-101 one mile south of Crescent City take Elk Valley Road east about one mile, then turn right onto Howland Hill Road. Continue 0.2 mile beyond the pavement to the locked trail gate; do not block or drive through it.
Howland Hill is narrow/unpaved: motorhomes, RVs and trailers do not fit. Follow current trail notices; seasonal river bridges are not a driving approach.
Official directions & access ↗A 4.3-mile ridge trail between Hamilton Road and the west end of Howland Hill Road, passing recovering forest and occasional Crescent City and harbor views. It joins Mill Creek Horse Trail.

- The south trailhead is beyond a gate on Hamilton Road and the north trailhead is at a locked gate past the pavement on Howland Hill Road; no unverified roadside parking pin is supplied.
