Highway access → arrival
Arrival: Stout Grove parking at the end of its paved spur from eastern Howland Hill Road.
Approach: From US-101 one mile south of Crescent City take Elk Valley Road east about one mile, then turn right onto Howland Hill Road. Follow Howland Hill Road to the signed paved Stout Grove spur and park at its end.
Howland Hill is narrow/unpaved: motorhomes, RVs and trailers do not fit. Follow current trail notices; seasonal river bridges are not a driving approach.
Official directions & access ↗An old-growth loop in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, reached from signed parking or seasonally from the day-use-area footbridge. Parking fees can apply.
